Facing the temporary drop in electricity prices, Voltizy Community preserves member benefits and strengthens access to energy communities

Kehlen, July 31, 2026– Following the publication of ILR Regulation E26/28 of 16 July 2026, which introduces a temporary reduction in electricity prices from 1 August to 31 December 2026, Group Marth announces several measures aimed at preserving the attractiveness of Voltizy Community, its renewable energy community. The Group will notably absorb the economic impact of this measure on energy exchanges between its members and will reduce the social share contribution for new consumer members, making the community accessible to an even wider audience.

A welcome measure… but with unintended consequences

Group Marth (Brunata-Metrona, e-trash, Voltizy Charging and Voltizy Community) welcomes the authorities’ decision to temporarily support households’ and businesses’ purchasing power in response to energy costs. However, this reduction in regulated electricity prices also has a less visible consequence: it temporarily reduces the economic advantage of locally shared renewable energy within an energy community.

Yet these communities represent a key driver of Luxembourg’s energy transition. They make it possible to maximise the value of locally produced renewable electricity, bring producers and consumers closer together, and strengthen the country’s energy independence.

Voltizy Community chooses to absorb the impact of the measure

To preserve the momentum of the energy community during this exceptional period, Voltizy Community has decided to cover the financial difference resulting from this measure.

From 1 August to 31 December 2026:

• energy exchanges carried out at national level within Voltizy Community will continue to be remunerated at 8 c€/kWh excluding VAT and network fees, both for producers and consumers (instead of 10.5 c€/kWh excluding VAT for consumption);

• energy exchanges carried out locally, within the same collective renewable self-consumption scheme, will continue to be valued at 13 c€/kWh excluding VAT and network fees, both for producers and consumers (instead of 15.5 c€/kWh excluding VAT for consumption).

The cost of this compensation will be fully covered by Voltizy Community. This decision allows members to retain the economic conditions initially planned, without affecting the operation of the energy community.

An even more accessible energy community

Voltizy Community is also announcing a second major measure. From 1 August 2026, the social share contribution for new consumer members will be set at €1. This decision aims to remove one of the remaining barriers to joining the community and enable more citizens to participate in the energy transition, whether they are tenants, homeowners, students, young professionals, retirees or households with low electricity consumption. The objective remains unchanged: enabling as many people as possible to benefit from locally produced renewable energy, without necessarily having to invest in their own photovoltaic installation.

Energy communities: a sustainable solution

While public support schemes provide a temporary response to rising energy prices, energy communities are part of a long-term vision. Their purpose is not only to generate savings, but also to sustainably transform the way energy is produced, shared and consumed.

Voltizy Community was created to promote the sharing of renewable electricity produced in Luxembourg among citizens, housing communities and businesses, based on a model built around cooperation, transparency and solidarity. Every kilowatt-hour shared is a kilowatt-hour that directly benefits community members while contributing to strengthening the local economy.

Unlike traditional energy models, where a significant part of the value created leaves the territory, an energy community makes it possible to fairly compensate producers while giving consumers direct access to locally produced energy. This approach contributes to strengthening Luxembourg’s energy resilience in the face of the climate, economic and geopolitical challenges of the coming decades.

Beyond its technical operation, Voltizy Community is above all a collective project. Organised as a cooperative, it allows everyone to actively participate in the energy transition and in the governance of the community. Through the measures announced today – maintaining the economic conditions for energy sharing and reducing the consumer membership share to €1 – Group Marth, through its energy community Voltizy Community, reaffirms its commitment to building an open, inclusive and accessible energy community for all. Because the energy transition can only succeed if everyone, regardless of income or housing situation, can take part.
